I work to rest from my vacation…

I took last week off.  Not from life, or the internet, or anything like that, but from work.  Because two weekends ago, we had two decks to build.

Other than railings, they’re done, and they’re fabulous.  As in, we don’t have to walk on the dirt and get bitten by mosquitoes anymore.  We can stand 5 feet above it and get bitten by mosquitoes.  It’s good times.

After the deck was built and our good friends departed, we headed to Big City for a funeral.  It was for B’s aunt (his dad’s brother’s wife), she had been sick for a long time and it was one of those funerals where it was almost a relief because she wasn’t sick anymore, and she was not in pain any longer.

Shortly after that, we departed for the flat land of Saskatchewan and went to a family reunion for B’s family (his mom’s side) and we had all the fun that can be had when you have to be the sober one at a Ukrainian family get together.  But it was a lot of fun.  There’s lots of fun cousins and aunts on that side, so lots of fun was had by all, between the eating of hot dogs and hamburgers and pop and all that other camping food that isn’t good for you.

As the scale pointed out to me when we got back.

Speaking of the scale, I think this pregnancy has killed my metabolism.  A weekend of bad food would not normally tip the scales one way or the other, but this?  I gained 5 pounds this weekend, and I’m not sure how to take it.  I know I can’t diet right now, but I also know that that is not a healthy weight gain, and there is not enough hours in the day to do the walking that I have to do to burn that stuff off.  Goodness, at the rate I’m going, I’m going to be pushing 60 pounds during the pregnancy and I don’t want to have to lose all of it after Timbit makes an appearance.

Thank goodness dance starts in a month and a half.

But the best part of the weekend?

Someone decided to make its appearance known, and I felt the wiggling for the first time.

Fricking awesome.
